Bigg Boss 9 fame Yuvika Chaudhary was arrested on Monday by the Haryana Police for allegedly insulting the SC/ST community. She was later granted interim bail in the case.
Former Bigg Boss contestant and Actress Yuvika Chaudhary has been arrested under Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (SC/ST Act) for making offensive remarks against Scheduled Castes on her vlog. The actress was arrested on Monday by Haryana Police and is out on interim bail. Her legal representative, Ashok Bishnoi, released a statement about her arrest to news agency ANI. Pictures of the actress outside the police station have surfaced on social media.

Bigg Boss season 9 winner, Prince Narula‘s wife was booked after a Dalit rights activist named Rajat Kalsan filed a complaint against her for the video. The actor’s lawyer, Ashok Bishnoi, spoke to the media and said, “My client has joined the investigation as per the guidelines given by the High Court and she is on interim bail now (in a case of alleged offensive remarks against Scheduled Castes on a social media platform),” reported news agency ANI. In the controversial video, she was getting ready to go out with her husband, reality show star Prince Narula, when she described her look as not upto the mark by using the slur. Later, she took to Instagram to write an apology. What Yuvika Chaudhary Said About Casteist Slur Controversy?
After this incident, She clarified that she did not wanted to hurt anyone and it was said in fun way., She had said in the ETimes interview on May 25, 2021, “I used the word not knowing the exact meaning of it. I said it more in fun and soon this started trending on Twitter. I immediately apologised, but by the time I did that, it had already been picked up across social media. It was not intentional; I didn’t mean to hurt anyone. And one can see in the video too that I didn’t say it seriously.”
She had further added, “This is the first time I got trolled like this. I don’t even engage in things like these which may take a wrong turn. Talking about how she prefers to stay low-key and keep away from any kind of controversy, she had said, “I don’t know about others but I keep away from things, whether it’s reacting to a political situation or anything else for that matter. Main apni life mein mast rehti hoon and I do my work. I always support the good things happening in society. In the video too, I was only saying it to myself and not to someone else, but I realised people were hurt and hence I apologised. I love peace and I’m not the kind of person to ever trouble others.”
Prior this, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Munmun Dutta was also criticised for using the same casteist slur in her video. The actress faced a lot of ire on social media and later, apologised saying she didn’t know the meaning and the implications of the word.
