According to a report by India Today, the Mumbai Police received intelligence reports suggesting a significant threat to Shah Rukh Khan’s life. In response, the Inspector-General (IG) of Very Important Persons (VIP) security has decided to enhance the actor’s protective measures. Under the Y+ security cover, SRK will have the company of six armed security personnel round the clock. Remarkably, the actor himself has decided to fund this heightened security service, with plans to remit the charges to the state government.
The reason behind this concerning development is rumored to be the actor’s soaring success with his recent films, Pathaan and Jawan, as reported by NDTV. It seems that Khan’s remarkable talent and appeal have not only won him legions of fans but also attracted the attention of criminal elements from the Mumbai underworld.
What Is Y Plus Security For Shah Rukh Khan?
Y+ security is typically allocated to individuals facing significant life threats. This level of security entails the deployment of six personal security officers (PSOs) working in three shifts around the clock, in addition to five armed personnel stationed at the person’s residence. It’s worth noting that Khan is not the first Bollywood superstar to be granted this level of protection due to threats from gangsters. Salman Khan had previously received Y+ security cover in response to threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Amidst these security concerns, director Sanjay Gupta took to social media to applaud Shah Rukh Khan for his unwavering resolve to withstand challenges in his career, including threats from the underworld. Gupta also recounted an episode from the 1990s when Khan demonstrated incredible courage by standing his ground against underworld elements, an act that earned him immense respect in the industry.

On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan’s latest release, Jawan, directed by Atlee, continues to dominate the box office. The action thriller, released worldwide on 7th September, has been garnering tremendous success, with a whopping Rs 2.10 crore earnings on its 31st day, bringing its total domestic earnings to an impressive Rs 620.78 crore, according to a report by Sacnik. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra, and Sunil Grover, all contributing to its massive popularity.
The superstar will be next seen in ‘Dunki‘ directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film also stars Taapsee Pannu and is scheduled to release on 22nd December 2023. Dunki will clash with Prabhas’ much-awaited ‘Salaar’ directed by Prashanth Neel.
