On the work front, Mahesh Manjrekar, was going to direct ‘Swantantrya Veer Savarkar‘ but left the film due to lead actor Randeep Hooda’s interference in the script. In a new interview with Bolllywood Hungama, the filmmaker has revealed that it was him who was first attached to direct the film, until Randeep Hooda interfered and tried to make multiple changes. Mahesh shared that owing to these changes, he decided to leave the project.
Mahesh mentioned how Randeep had his own ideas for the film’s script, including elements involving historical figures like Hitler, the King of England, and the Prime Minister of England. This caused some conflicts with the director. Mahesh stated, “Randeep remained insistent on these changes, even after lengthy discussions. He even started suggesting specific shooting techniques and transitions, which made me feel like he was trying to take over the filmmaking process. I made it clear that I intended to direct the film my way. I also realized that our creative differences were causing problems.”
Taking action, Mahesh explained, “I spoke to the producers honestly, telling them, ‘This film won’t move forward if both of us are involved. It’s either me or him.’ Perhaps now they realize they might have made the wrong choice.”
