A reliable source from the film industry has revealed that the film is based on a concept that late actor Sushant was working on before his unfortunate demise. “Sushant was preparing for another sports biopic after Dhoni biopic which is now being revived as Chandu Champion. Sushant was excited to portray on the silver screen the remarkable life of Murlikant Petkar, a veteran and physically challenged sportsperson from the army. But after his death, the film went on hold.”.
But now the makers decided to remake it and Kartik took up the responsibility of bringing on screen the inspiring character of Murlikant Petkar. Karthik is working hard for this role. Not only this, he has also started taking training for this so that he can do full justice to his inspiring character. In 2016, SSR expressed his deep interest in portraying Murlikant Petkar’s inspiring journey. He was drawn to Petkar’s story and found it uplifting, as it showcased the veteran’s passion and his ability to overcome physical obstacles to pursue his aspirations. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, Sushant could not fulfill this dream.
Who Is Murlikant Petkar?
Let us tell you that Murlikant Petkar had achieved significant achievements by winning the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in 1970 and the Paralympics in Germany in 1972. The film based on the life of Murlikant Petkar was earlier supposed to be done by Sushant in 2016 as he showed his interest in it. Chandu Champion will be Kartik’s next film after Satyaprem Ki Katha and it will release on June 14, 2024.
