Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal was arrested on Saturday for allegedly flouting Covid -19 restrictions while shooting for a movie at Banur in Punjab’s Patiala district. Some crew members of the film were also arrested. They were later released on bail, police said.
A police official informed that over 100 people had gathered at the shooting site during a village in Banur, ignoring the weekend lockdown that was effective. Police arrested Gippy Grewal and a few crew members from the spot, the official said.
A case under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC, relevant sections of the Epidemic Diseases Act and therefore the Disaster Management Act has been registered at Banur police headquarters.
A few days ago, actor Jimmy Shergill was booked for flouting Covid-19 rules in Ludhiana. The actor was accused of defying the Covid lockdown while shooting for the online series, Your Honor 2, in a school in Ludhiana, Punjab.
While shooting, Jimmy, along side all the crew members of the show, didn’t follow the Covid-19 rules and regulations. In fact, the shooting went on even after 8 pm, two hours after curfew was enforced. When the police was notified about an equivalent, they reached the spot and located quite 100 people at the situation of the shoot. A case was later filed against Jimmy and every one the crew members.
