Lock Upp Contestant Ali Merchant has revealed that his second wife did not want him to be a DJ and their life philosophies differed, which is why they parted ways in December 2021.

And this week, Ali Merchant got the cue for his secret, which is ‘Divorce’. Ali pressed the buzzer first and signed the contract to reveal his secret about his divorce from second wife Anam Merchant. Ali revealed that he got an arranged married in 2016 and he was not getting any acting projects so he began DJ-ing in 2015. Ali’s wife Aman didn’t want him to be in the nightlife. She wanted him to be an actor or a businessman. Ali started getting great offers to perform in concerts – in bigger arenas and rather than being proud of him, she wasn’t happy and they got separated in December 2021. He said: “I always wanted to get married and settle down. I got into an arranged marriage in 2016. In December 2021, we got separated. The girl I got into an arranged marriage with, belonged to an orthodox family. I began DJ-ing in 2015. A career in nightlife, extreme exposure in concerts – it is a very difficult industry for a Muslim to be in. When I got married, I was getting a few shows. I wasn’t getting acting projects. I had a few small businesses. She never wanted me to be in the nightlife. She wanted me to be an actor or a businessman. She didn’t want me to be a DJ. As time passed, in a few years my DJ-ing life took off to a nice level. I could survive because of the industry and provide for my family. I was getting a lot of offers to perform in concerts – in bigger arenas. I would ask her ‘Why can’t you b proud of me?’ She wasn’t too happy. Our philosophies didn’t match. Our families suggested we have a kid and things might resolve. But it was a mutual and mature decision. Ali’s former first wife Sara was also in the show. Many times, during conversation and fights in the house, Ali had indirectly shared “Wo nahi hai abhi”, hinting at his second marriage.
