There was always the sound of a sewing machine in the house. I have heard this noise for 21 years. We didn’t have vegetables at home. Often I spent days eating salt bread. I don’t have big dreams, but I pray to God that whatever I have, it will remain. We used to eat salt and bread but now we have dal, rice, bread everything. Looking at Bharti today, no one will believe that she was once a national level shooter. But Bharti was a national level rifle shooter. Played for Punjab at national level 12 years ago. While playing, she got free food from the government, along with a daily allowance of Rs 15 and a coupon of Rs 5. She used to drink juice every day with a 5 rupees coupon. So that she gets strength while practicing. She used to save some coupons and buy fruits from them at the end of the month.
