Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai written update September 5: In today’s episode Janmashtami, and Akshara is not allowed to participate because she’s a widow.
The episode starts with Akshara (Pranali Rathod) being happy to see Manjiri spending time with Abhir and Ruhi. Akshara wants to help with the festival’s rituals, but a lady tells her to set up some mattresses instead. Shefali, a friend, teases Abhi for always arguing with Akshara. Abhi talks about a past incident where he had a fight with Akshara and brings it up again. Shefali suggests he talk to Akshara about it.

Later, Akshara prepares a special plate for the festival, but the lady insists she take a break. Suwarna asks Akshara to reveal a decorative display, but the lady stops her, saying widows can’t touch it. Akshara disagrees and says it’s not mentioned in any holy scriptures. She believes that women shouldn’t lose their identity after their husband’s death and that society should support this truth. The lady says they may not be lawyers like Akshara but will follow society’s rules. Akshara insists that rules should be the same for everyone and declares she’ll do her own ritual. Suwarna asks Akshara to draw curtains in front of the deities, and Kairav defends Akshara from a man who questions her. Abhi (Harshad Chopda) and Arohi think it’s a waste of time to explain to such people, but Abhir suggests everyone go home to celebrate the festival. The lady taunts Abhir for being rude, but Surekha supports him. Akshara tries to leave, but Abhi takes her to the ritual.
The curtains are pulled, and everyone prays to Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha. Abhir mentions that God doesn’t see who’s performing the ritual, so Akshara opens the curtains. The women apologize to Akshara and ask her to perform the ceremonial prayer. Akshara does it and prays for her family’s happiness.
