WhatsApp new privacy policy going live on May 15: Accept it or lose access to these features

Earlier this month, WhatsApp scrapped May 15 deadline for its users. during a statement, it says that users won’t lose any functionality if they fail to accept its new privacy policy by May 15. This, however, doesn’t mean that users won’t have to accept the new privacy update. As users won’t have the complete functionality of their WhatsApp account until they accept.

WhatsApp new privacy policy going live on May 15

WhatsApp has removed the May 15th deadline for accepting the new privacy policy. In fact, the social messaging app now says people won’t lose their account once the deadline is over, which comes as a big relief to many users out there. People over the past few months have been getting notification pop-ups within the app that asks them to simply accept the new privacy policy terms from WhatsApp. The new terms are said to offer Facebook a stronger hold on the data that can be shared from WhatsApp. This has raised concerns among privacy experts, who knew that this would eventually come. you’ll find more details about WhatsApp’s new terms in the FAQ page up here.

Your account won’t be deleted

“No one will have their accounts deleted or lose functionality of WhatsApp on May 15th due to this update,” says the corporate.

WhatsApp will still remind users to accept the new terms

While the company has scrapped the deadline for the new policy, it’ll continue to remind users to accept the new terms. “After giving everyone time to review, we’re continuing to remind those that haven’t had the chance to do so to review and accept. After a period of several weeks, the reminder people receive will eventually become persistent,” says the corporate.

What happens if you don’t accept WhatsApp privacy policy?

After a couple of weeks, the notification alerts to simply accept the new policy will become persistent. Is that the sole concern WhatsApp users will face due to not agreeing to the privacy policy? the answer is no. WhatsApp has clearly said that users will start seeing limited functionalities of the app. which suggests a number of the features will stop working on their account. What are these features?

You won’t be able to access your WhatsApp chat list.

You can answer incoming calls, read messaging by tapping the notification alert only.
After a couple of weeks, WhatsApp will stop sending incoming messages and calls to your account.

In such cases, most of the people might consider deleting their accounts. But thankfully WhatsApp won’t be doing that on its own. However, if an account remains inactive for 120 days, WhatsApp accounts are generally deleted. So, you’ll either switch over to a different messaging service, otherwise you can accept the new privacy policy so as to stay using WhatsApp.
