Bollywood’s ‘Bachelor Dad’ and actor, Tusshar Kapoor, admitted in his recent interview that he was worried about receiving backlash and hatred from society for becoming a father through surrogacy.
Tusshar Kapoor had welcomed a baby boy in his life on June 1, 2016, whom he has lovingly named Laksshya Kapoor. Breaking numerous societal norms on multiple grounds, Tusshar had taken the journey of fatherhood by welcoming his little jaan into the world via surrogacy.
Time and again, with videos and pictures, Tusshar Kapoor has left everyone in awe of his parenting skills. From teaching his son, Laksshya Kapoor, something new like water xylophone to doing ice-cube painting with him, the actor has redefined fatherhood in every sense. However, in his recent interview, Tusshar admitted that it wasn’t a cakewalk for him to finally make the decision of becoming a father via surrogacy. In an interview with Press Trust Of India (PTI), Tusshar Kapoor opened up about becoming a father to his son, Laksshya Kapoor, through surrogacy. The doting dad shared his experience of embracing parenthood and how he had decided to become a bachelor dad through this medical process. Tusshar honestly admitted that he was immensely worried about the consequences of his decision. The actor revealed that he was anxious whether society would support his decision to become a father through surrogacy or he would face a huge backlash for it. The Golmaal actor also added that he was aware that his decision would break many cultural norms at so many different levels. Reflecting on his decision, Tusshar said:
“There were lots of questions that came to my mind as well. For example, if people will accept it positively? Will there be too much of a shock? Will there be a backlash in the media because I was breaking cultural norms? Last year on December 20, 2021, the 45-year-old actor had proudly announced that he had penned his entire journey, from thinking about becoming a father through surrogacy to holding his son, Laksshya, for the first time in a book. Tusshar Kapoor had also shared a picture of his book’s cover, and the name that he had chosen for his debut book, ‘Bachelor Dad’. Tusshar had also penned a long note in the caption with the picture of his book’s cover. An excerpt from his note could be read as:
“I WROTE A BOOK! Becoming a father has been one of the most cherished moments of my life and my first book, Bachelor Dad, talks about how I took a slightly unconventional road to fatherhood.”
Tusshar Kapoor’s debut book, Bachelor Dad, will be out in stores in February 2022. Currently, it is up for pre-order on Amazon.
