The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri revealed that after the success of the movie, he has received a many threats. He also said that two boys barged into his office.
Director Vivek Agnihotri has ruffled some feathers with his latest venture The Kashmir Files. The Kashmir Files, based on the plight of Hindu pandits in the regions, has been very well received by the audience. The film is set to cross INR200 crore at the box office in just 11 days. Now, the director has shared how he has been under the radar of right-wingers.
Talking about how he has been receiving threats after the release of the film, Vivek Agnihotri told Bollywood Hungama in an interview, “Yes, there have been threats. Recently two boys barged into our office when my wife and I were not there. Only a manager, a middle-aged lady was here. They pushed her with the door, she fell, they asked for me and then fled. I never spoke about this incident because I didn’t want such elements to get any publicity. I told them not to bother with the security. Vivek Agnihotri previously shared that he has been receiving death threats over his film The Kashmir Files just before its release.
Following the incident, Vivek Agnihotri deactivated the Twitter account for a few days to get rid of all these negativities. In a recent interview, the director opened up about his struggle to get over this and how the threats to him and his family caused him to suffer mentally.
Talking to a leading daily, the director said, “It got ugly. It created mental stress for me, so I thought let me get off for few days, I just wanted to focus on the film. All this creates anxiety. If I am called all that, it’s okay, but if it comes down to my children and family. Vivek Agnihotri further stated, “These people who threaten, they know your children through Instagram as well,” he continued, “I have quite seasoned at social media, I have been here for a long time, I can handle any kind of opposition and abuses also. But when Twitter is used as a weapon by organised political or religious groups, then it becomes difficult.
