All eyes are on Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt as their film Shamshera has released yesterday. Fans are super excited to watch the grand clast of Ranbir and Sanjay on the big screens. Well, this film marks the return of the Sanju actor on the silver screens after almost 4 years.
The film had monumental expectations from it since it marked the collaboration of the greatest of filmmakers. Unfortunately, the film has failed to live up to the hype and the opening day numbers of the film are underwhelming to say the least.
Ranbir essays the titular role in the film and audience ensured that his film sees a double-digit opening at the box office. However, Shamshera has failed to live up to the hype as the numbers are still disappointing at the domestic box office, considering that Ranbir starrer released on over 4350 screens. According to trade reports, the film needs to reach 20 crore nett plus on Sunday to be in the race.

According to the report of Early Estimates of Box Office India, Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Shamshera’ has done business of only Rs 10.30 crores on the first day, which is much less than expected and it is less than 10 per cent of its budget. According to sources, more than Rs 150 crore has been spent to make the film, so the makers are also very upset considering the first day’s earnings. Ranbir’s film has failed to chase the first day collection of Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj, which also come under YRF Banner. The Akshay Kumar earned Rs 10.7 crore on its opening day.
‘Shamshera’ also failed to break the box office record of actor Kartik Aaryan’s film ‘Bhool Bhulaiya 2’. The film did a business of Rs 14 crore on the first day.
