Rubina Dilaik said that she does not wear a diamond wedding or engagement ring because of something Abhinav Shukla believes in, The actress also recalled being heartbroken during an award show.
Popular television actress and Bigg Boss 14 winner Rubina Dilaik explained that she does not wear a solitaire engagement or wedding ring because Abhinav Shukla feels that ‘diamonds are blood diamonds’. She said that wearing a diamond ring is ‘not worth the bloodshed’ and exploitation of the environment.
Rubina and Abhinav tied the knot in 2018. They appeared together on Bigg Boss 14 as contestants. While he was voted out by the contestants’ connections, she went on to win the show.
In her recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rubina said, “Why I don’t have a solitaire in my hand as an engagement or a wedding ring, is because Abhinav has always believed that diamonds are blood diamonds. “Women just flaunt around saying four carats, five carats, ten carats. I don’t believe in this at all. Because what people go through for it to be on your ring finger is not worth the bloodshed that we see. And the coal mines that we dig beneath, we exploit our environment. He used to always say, ‘Blood diamonds’,” she added.

She said that she was ‘super-excited’ to attend the awards show and even bought an outfit and got her hair curled especially for the occasion.
Rubina said, “My show was at the top at that point in time. It had a rating of 5.7. I knew that I was going to win the best actor award. Mehnat kiya, sab kiya. Itna confidence aap mein hota hai ki at least aapko pata hai (I had worked hard. I had the confidence), the craft and the skill that you’ve honed for yourself, you know it.”
“I was sitting, and the name was announced, and I could not control myself. From that front row, I ran to the bathroom and cried. I cried my heart out. I knew this was mine. Two days later, I got to know that the award was given to the hero, because a couple of weeks later, the girl who was playing my sister and the hero were flying down to South Africa to do a Vikram Phadnis fashion show.
