Rohit Shetty spoke on the Hindi vs South debate, at an event in Mumbai. He said that ‘Bollywood khatam’ trend will never happen.
In Indian cinema these days there is a fierce debate between Bollywood and South Industry. In the past, South’s films have rocked the box office and Bollywood films are not able to stand ahead of South, due to which many people now say that South cinema has overtaken Bollywood. So far many actors have given their feedback on this debate and now the name of director Rohit Shetty has also been added to this list. Rohit Shetty has given his reaction on this ongoing dispute between Bollywood and South Cinema.
Well, however, with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown which was imposed back in 2020, Bollywood producers and movie theatre owners faced a lot of loss due to the shutdown of movie halls for months. Also, during the lockdown period, different OTT platforms came to the rescue of movie lovers and with the variety of content the platforms have been providing, many people are of the notion that Bollywood is going to be over soon. A particular section of people also makes sure to pull down Bollywood whenever given a chance to. Now, reacting to the same, superstar director Rohit Shetty has something interesting to tell the people about Bollywood and how it is never going to be finished. During a recent event where he was spotted with Ranveer Singh, the Cirkus director told, “When VCR came in the 80s, people said ab theatres khatam aur Bollywood khatam, jab OTT aaya people said ab Bollywood khatam toh yeh ‘bollywood khatam’ thought ek high deta hai, but Bollywood kabhi khatam nahi hoga.”
Rohit also talked about South Indian movies doing well at the box-office on Pan-India level and said that movies from the South have been doing good and have seen success stories earlier as well. He was quoted saying, “Jab aap history check karenge… 50s aur 60s mein Pyar Kiye Jaa aayi thi, which was a remake. It starred Shashi Kapoor ji. In the 80s, when Amitabh Bachchan ji and Vinod Khanna ji were at the peak, tab ek naya ladka aaya tha, Kamal Haasan With Ek Duje Ke Liye, which was a hit. Rohit Shetty Upcoming Movies
Speaking on the professional front, Shetty will be next seen directing Ranveer Singh in the upcoming comedy film Cirkus. He also revealed that after wrapping up this movie, he will commence his work on the next instalments of Singham and Simmba. He also is directing his OTT debut ‘Indian Police Force’ which will star Sidharth Malhotra and Shilpa Shetty.
Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty will soon fly to cape town, south africa to shoot for Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 12. There will be 55 day long schedule for director, as per reports.
