Mahadev Book App Case: Along with Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur and Mouni Roy too have endorsed this Online Betting App. Likely to be summoned.
In a significant development, Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear before them on October 6, 2023, in connection with an ongoing investigation into an online betting case. The ED alleges that Kapoor promoted a subsidiary app associated with the controversial Mahadev Book app, known for its involvement in online betting activities.
Reports claim that Ranbir Kapoor received cash payments for endorsing the subsidiary app, which is also promoted by Mahadev Book app promoters. The investigation has unveiled digital evidence suggesting that a staggering Rs 112 crore was transferred through hawala channels to an event management company, with an additional Rs 42 crore spent in cash for hotel bookings.
This development follows a broader crackdown on the Mahadev Book app, which has come under the scrutiny of law enforcement agencies across several Indian states. It is anticipated that other prominent Bollywood actors and singers may also be summoned by the ED as part of their ongoing investigation into the Mahadev online betting case.
Last month, n India Today report unveiled a list of actors and singers who attended the lavish wedding ceremony of Sourabh Chandrakar, a promoter of the Mahadev Book app, in the United Arab Emirates earlier this year. The star-studded guest list included Tiger Shroff, Sunny Leone, Neha Kakkar, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Asgar, Vishal Dadlani, Elli AvrRam, Bharti Singh, Bhagyashree, Kriti Kharbanda, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Krushna Abhishek, and Sukhwinder Singh.
As the investigation unfolds, the Indian entertainment industry finds itself under the spotlight, with questions arising about the endorsement practices and associations of its prominent figures in the world of online betting.
