Famous actor Vikram, who has acted in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films, has been admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Chennai. Vikram was admitted to the hospital today (Friday) due to chest pain. He is playing a pivotal role in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film ‘Ponniyin Selvan‘. He was to attend the trailer launch of the same film in the evening. However, due to sudden chest pain, he was rushed to a hospital in Chennai. Vikram, 56, has starred in films like Unfamiliar and I. His acting has a huge fan base not only in the southern film industry but also in Bollywood.
It has been widely reported that Vikram had a heart attack and was hospitalised for the same. However, it is not the truth. The actor’s manager clarified the rumours about his health on social media. he did confirm that Vikram is being treated in the hospital. Suryanarayanan M wrote on Twitter, “Chiyaan Vikram had mild chest discomfort and is being treated for the same. He DID NOT have a heart attack as reports falsely claim. We are pained to hear rumours to this effect. That being said, we request you to give him and the family the privacy they need at this time. Our dear Chiyaan is fine now. He is likely to be discharged from hospital in a day. We hope this statement provides clarity and trust that the false rumours will be put to rest (sic).”

Vikram started his career in 1990. However, he got his true identity with the film ‘Setu’ released in 1999. For the role in this film, Vikram had lost 20 kg and was bald. After Setu, he has acted in films like Gemini, Samurai, Dhool, Kadhal Sadugudu, Sami, Pitamagan, Arul, Annian, Bhima, Ravanan, Iru Mugan and Mahan. He won the National Award for Best Actor for his 2003 film Pitamgan. These double roles in the Tamil film ‘Annian’ and the Hindi film ‘Aparichit’ are still well remembered by the audience. In it, he played two roles, Remo and Ambi. He had worked with Aishwarya Rai in the Tamil film Ravanan.
