Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Akshaye Khanna’s ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ marked the directorial debut of actor Farhan Akhtar. On August 10 this year, the film completed 20 years at the box office. The film was about friendship and how the equation among friends change as they grow old.
In the movie, Suchitra Pillai played Saif Ali Khan‘s girlfriend Priya and in one of the scenes, she had to tightly slap the Saif as it was the need of the script. Two decades after the film’s release, Pillai has spoken about the film and her co-star in an interview. While recalling the time she met Saif’s mother and veteran actress Sharmila Tagore at a party, Pillai shared that she introduced herself to the veteran actress as the ‘woman who slapped your son’. And, then she went on to share Sharmila’s reaction in the interview.
“I said mam I hope you remember I am Suchitra the one who slaps Saif in Dil Chahta Hai. And then she said ‘yeah I hope it was a tight one’. We both burst out laughing,” Suchitra told SpotboyE.
Suchitra also shared how Saif encouraged her before and during the slap scene as she was nervous. “He was like come on you are an actor, go ahead slap me,” she said.
As Dil Chahta Hai clocked 20 years of its release, Farhan Akhtar announced his directorial comeback with the upcoming film Jee Le Zaraa. The film will star Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
