Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara will complete 10 years of release on July 15 this year. The film starred Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar & Abhay Deol, along side Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin.
If you thought everything about Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was iconic, you’re right. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin in lead roles, the movie revolves around three friends who go on a bachelor’s trip to Spain. During the journey, they not only deal with tension amongst themselves but also heal from their personal traumas. This, because Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar were ‘almost killed’ by Hrithik Roshan while filming one among the scenes.
A recent video, Off The Record with Abhay Deol, was uploaded by Tiger Baby Films (the production house behind Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) on their social media handles. The video was shared with the caption, “We make films for the silver screen but the small stories that make the big picture don’t always come through. Here’s introducing our ‘Off The Record’ series where cast and crew from the Tiger Baby clan let us in on what went into creating a number of their best scenes, what their psychology was therein moment and why this particular scene will always remain unforgettable to them.”

In the video, Deol talks about how Roshan almost killed Akhtar and Deol. He says, “Hrithik was behind the driver’s seat and he drove the car to a corner to park it in the side for the background of the shot and forgot to switch the car off. So he opens the door and walks out of it then suddenly jumps back in because the car started to go down the hill. Farhan was really fast, he jumped out immediately. and i just sat there thinking, ‘I’m going to die now.’ i need to be a lot faster about such things.”
If you have watched the movie, you’d remember the scene where Roshan’s character stops the car to attend a meeting together with his Japanese client. Akhtar and Deol’s characters stand on the side of the road and ridicule of Roshan as he creates a makeshift meeting space on the bonnet of the car.
Interestingly, in the Instagram video, Deol also shares that the infamous Mr. Dubey’s impersonation in the film was inspired by one among Farhan and Zoya’s real-life school teachers from Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School, Mumbai.
