Mumbai police have arrested businessman Raj Kundra, the husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, in a case related to alleged creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps, a senior official said.
Kundra (45) appears to be the “key conspirator” of the case, the official said on Monday. As the news created a buzz on social media, an old video of Kundra appearing with his wife and sister-in-law Shamita Shetty on “The Kapil Sharma Show” has resurfaced.
In the clip, host Kapil Sharma is seen asking Raj Kundra about his source of income, his luxurious lifestyle, and earning without doing anything. Kapil questioned Raj about often being snapped at Bollywood parties, football matches, outside restaurants. He asked amid all of this, when does he get the time to work. To which, Shilpa Shetty jumped in and said that her husband works really hard and sometimes he works for hours at a stretch.

Talking about Raj Kundra’s arrest, Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale confirmed his arrest and issued a statement that read: “There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr. Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this.”
As per the Times of India report, model-actress Gehana Vasisht was among the nine people, who were arrested earlier this year for acting in pornographic movies. Raj Kundra’s name surfaced in the probe after the Property Cell found the involvement of a UK production company, Kenrin, and the police arrested its executive, Umesh Kamat. He was a former employee of Raj Kundra and reportedly accused of uploading at least eight “pornographic and obscene” videos shot by Gehna Vasisth on a social media app. The TOI report further suspects that Raj Kundra has a stake in Kenrin.
