The leading star of the tv comedy show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), Dilip Joshi, turned 53 on Wednesday. Dilip has been entertaining his audience since the 90s, however, with TMKOC, he became a household name.
We may binge over OTT shows but there’s something about one among the longest-running shows of Indian television, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah that fans love even today! The show first aired in 2008 and in over 13 years of its air time, the famous characters like Jethalal (played by Dilip Joshi), Babita ji (played by Munmun Dutta) and a number of other others became a part of our entertainment family!
till one among the most successful shows ever, one cannot possibly imagine Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah without Dilip Joshi (Jethalal). this is probably why he’s the highest-paid star cast of the show.
As per reports, Dilip takes back home Rs 1.5 lakh for each episode and it won’t be a surprise to know of the many expensive things the telly actor owns.
Firstly, you must note that Dilip Joshi aka Jethalal owns a swanky car collection that’s worth lakhs! one of his favourite ones is a black Audi Q-7 that reportedly costs Rs 80 lakh. Up next, he also owns a snug Toyota Innova that’s priced at Rs 14 lakh.
Apart from this, Dilip’s house in Mumbai is simple but beautiful. A swing, Ganpati idol will welcome you as soon as you enter his house. Here is a photo from his abode:
You think about Jethalal and what’s the one dialogue that comes to your mind? “Aye Pagal aurat” (You crazy woman), isn’t it? While this was a Jethalal staple on the show, however of late, you must have noticed that the actor never mouths it anymore. during a podcast, Dilip had revealed he was asked to never repeat the dialogue on the show fearing controversies.
“Yeh jo ‘paagal aurat’ wala tha, woh maine improvise kiya. On set koi aise situation aayi thi, the way Daya reacted, toh scene karte karte mere mooh se nikal gaya, ‘Aye, paagal aurat!’ Matlab, ‘Kya, kuch bhi bol rahi hai!’ But baad mein, uspe kuch women’s lib ya koi movement tha, mujhe bataya gaya, ‘Aage se, aap yeh nahi bolenge’,” shared Dilip on the show. (Loosely translated to: later on, due to some women’s liberation movement or something, and that i was asked to never repeat the dialogue again).
TMKOC reached a milestone last year after it completed 3,000 episodes. Dilip plays the role of businessman Jethalal Gada in the show.
