It was already predicted by some famous film trade analyst that Ek Villain Returns will take a start of Rs. 6-8 crores and that’s exactly what happened as Rs. 7.05 crores came in. This would have been fair enough even in the pre-pandemic days and in the current market scenario, this is in fact good as per BollywoodHungama. But do you know, this collection is still less than what ‘Ek Villain’ collected 8 years back with comparatively lower ticket prices. Here’s we look at comparison between the two.
Ek Villain which was released back in 2014, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh, had collected a much bigger amount 8 years ago with lower ticket prices. Yes, the film opened with double digits on Box-office and collected Rs. 16.72 cr. on it’s first day. Also Read: B-Town Celebs Who Sang In Their Movies & Gave Hit Songs
Ek Villain Returns Box Office Collection Day 1
And, now coming back to ‘Ek Villain Returns‘ which just released this Friday opened much lower than the original film. Despite being a multi-starrer film, the Mohit Suri’s film collected only Rs. 7.05 crores. Well, this must be great number looking at current scenario in the industry, the high budgets are going flop and disappointing producers.
Looking at the budget of Rs 80 Crores, Ek Villain Returns’ first day business is good, but with Rs. 39 Crore budget of ‘Ek Villain’ the film had an phenomenal first day collection.
What went wrong? The 2014 film film starring Shraddha and Siddharth had great advantage of music and all the songs were loved and highly played even before the release of the film and that actually worked for it and when the film released it’s unique story grabbed eyeballs. On the other hand, ‘Ek Villain Returns’ failed to catch attention with the music and people actually come down to comparison and thumb down the sequel. The song ‘Galliyan Returns’ created buzz but not as big as it should have, also the other songs that released few weeks back had a dull impression.
Shraddha Kapoor-Sidharth Malhotra’s film had over Rs. 169 cr lifetime business worldwide. And now looking at ‘Ek Villain Returns’ the film might wrapped up under 60 crore to be approx.
