A day after Urfi Javed shared sharp notes slamming Chetan Bhagat, the latter took to social media to address the controversy. Without directly naming Urfi, he said that he was not criticising her.
Social media sensation Urfi Javed is making headlines these days. She recently called out author Chetan Bhagat for his remarks where he called Uorfi a ‘distraction’ for young boys. In a series of Instagram stories, Uorfi lashed out at Bhagat for his remarks and shared his leaked chats from a few years ago that went viral during the MeToo campaign. Chetan Bhagat was accused of sexual misconduct by a journalist and later by controversial author and yoga instructor Ira Trivedi.
Now, Chetan Bhagat has reacted to the screenshots of leaked WhatsApp chats that have been shared by Urfi Javed from the time he was embroiled in the #MeToo controversy. He took to Twitter to clarify that what is being spread is nothing but lies and he has got nothing to do with it. The 48-years-old author wrote, “Have never spoken to/chatted with/met/ known someone where it’s being spread that I have done so. It’s fake. a lie. Also a Non issue. Haven’t criticised anyone. And I also think there’s nothing wrong in telling people to stop wasting time on Instagram and focus on fitness and career.”
Urfi Javed and Chetan Bhagat Controversy
Chetan Bhagat sparked off controversy after he commented about Urfi Javed’s outfits and her ‘distracting boys’ at a literature festival recently. The author had said, “Phone has been a great distraction for the youth, especially the boys, spending hours just watching Instagram Reels. Everyone knows who Uorfi Javed is. What will you do with her photos? Is it coming in your exams or you will go for a job interview and tell the interviewer that you know all her outfits?” Also Read: 5 Things To Avoid If You Wish To Keep Your Hair Healthy
“On one side, there is a youth who is protecting our nation at Kargil and on another side, we have another youth who is seeing Uorfi Javed’s photos hiding in their blankets,” he added.
UOrfi reacted to it sharply and accused Bhagat of ‘promoting rape culture’. She wrote, “Stop promoting rape culture you sickos out there! Blaming a woman’s clothes for the behaviour of men is so 80’s mr @chetanbhagat. Who was distracting you when you messaged girls half of your age? Always blame the opposite gender, never accept your own shortcomings or faults! People like you are misguiding the youth, not me. Encouraging men to put the blame on the woman or her clothing when they are at fault.”
