Shah Rukh Khan and wife Gauri Khan have been having sleepless nights ever since their 23-year-old son Aryan Khan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the infamous drug case.
The star couple are staying away from the media glare and are avoiding stepping out of their lavish house Mannat. Now, according to a report in an entertainment portal, Aryan’s arrest has left Shah Rukh Khan ‘feeling helpless and broken’. The reports also state that King Khan is ‘suffering from grief and anger. He is not sleeping and eating much and is just broken like a helpless father.’
Despite being one of the most recognised faces in the country, Aryan has primarily been a recluse and mostly kept a low profile. Unlike his superstar dad, he doesn’t attend award shows, hates being papped, and even made his social media page private a few years ago. While a lot of reactions from big stars and SRK’s friends have been muted, a few names like director Sanjay Gupta, his one-time co-star Pooja Bhatt, and actor-politician Raj Babbar came out and spoke in Aryan’s favour. As per report in IndiaToday, SRK and Gauri are devastated from the day the news broke. “It didn’t dawn on them that this will go on for such a long time. While the news of the arrest sent shock waves through the industry, SRK immediately sought legal advice on the matter dialling up some of the best experts in the country. Satish Maneshinde was approached, and he gave SRK the confidence that Aryan would be out sooner than expected. However, that wasn’t the case as the court rejected his bail plea on the grounds that it was ‘unmaintainable’ and that news really shook the family.” a source told the portal.
The same report further states that that Shah Rukh Khan has been spending sleepless nights, following up the case and maintaining contact with NCB officials on his son’s well-being. “Gauri and SRK make multiple calls through the day to check on his health. Even though there is no direct access to Aryan, information on his well-being is conveyed to the family. There even was a request made to send home-cooked meals and his personal belongings to Aryan.”
Talking about the case, a total of 18 people, including a Nigerian national, have been arrested in the case so far. Meanwhile, earlier, in the recent hearing of the case, despite presenting strong arguments by Aryan’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde, he was denied bail by the court and was sent to Arthur Road jail in Mumbai. Giving a major setback to Aryan Khan and his lawyers, the court gave no relief to the star kid and rejected his along with Arbaaz Merchantt and Munmun Dhamecha’s bail plea, saying that the plea filed by them is ‘not maintainable’.
Now, Aryan along with lawyers of other accused will be approaching the sessions court with their bail pleas. Meanwhile, amid these tough times, Shah Rukh Khan and his family are getting immense support from the film fraternity. Several B-Town celebs like Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Pooja Bhatt, Raveena Tandon, Shekhar Suman and others are coming out in support of him.
Recently, music composer Vishal Dadlani also defended King Khan and his family and tweeted, ‘SRK and his family are being used as a smokescreen.’ Talking about the raid, after getting a tip-off, on October 2nd, the Narcotics Control Bureau boarded a cruise ship as passengers and conducted a surprise raid as soon as the rave party commenced and the officials found a few passengers consuming drugs.
Post this, the NCB detained a few passengers and after hours of questioning, they arrested Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchantt, Munmun Dhamecha, and five others on October 3rd. At present, while Aryan and Arbaaz are lodged in Arthur Road jail in judicial custody, Munmun is kept in Byculla jail.
