Renowned filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri recently shared his mixed feelings about Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan. While expressing his admiration for Khan’s charisma, Agnihotri criticized the actor’s approach to cinema and politics. Agnihotri accused Khan of focusing solely on mainstream, box-office-driven films rather than making films for the people. He lamented the influence of PR, glamour, and stardom in the industry, which he believed has destroyed the true essence of Bollywood.

Agnihotri emphasized his commitment to making “people’s films” and highlighted the difference in perspective between him and SRK, who he sees as prioritizing commercial success over substance. He humorously likened their relationship to the characters in classic films like “Shakti” and “Deewar.”
Regarding the possibility of working with Khan, Agnihotri expressed openness to collaboration but insisted that in his projects, the writer and director would take precedence over the star, a condition he believed Khan would not accept.
