In a span of 15 years of his career in showbizz, Ranbir made headlines for many reasons and most of it was about his love life. The actor dated some popular young actresses of his generation and shied away from expresseing it publicly. His breakups apparently garnered more attention than any of his official relationships. One of the main reasons behind it can the Kapoor boy’s brief family involvement in his link-ups.
Everyone knows Ranbir is a Mama’s boy. His mother, Neetu Kapoor’s say matters a lot to him while making significant life decisions. However, from time to time, it has also been speculated that since mommy Neetu didn’t approve of his former relationships, the actor’s affair saga didn’t last long with leading ladies like Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif. Neetu Kapoor felt Deepika was not suitable for Ranbir
When it comes to Deepika, Neetu was not sure if she is the right girl for her son. She was also quoted saying, “The first time he felt involved, I knew the girl was not right for him. I told him don’t get serious so soon, the more you see the more you know and learn, so meet many girls, and go out with them, but don’t commit yet.” However, later Neetu Kapoor was seen getting along with Deepika on several occasions.
Deepika and Ranbir began dating in 2007 and ended their relationship in just two years.
But, coming back to Katrina Kaif, no one actually cleared the air about what happened between Ranbir’s mom and the Tiger 3 actress. Most of the time, the veteran actress was seen refraining from showering love upon Katrina. In fact, Neetu left everyone in shock when she cropped Kat from a family photo, which was taken during a Christmas party at the late Shashi Kapoor’s house. Neetu Didn’t Approve Of Ranbir’s Love For Katrina
According to HerZindagi, Sources close to Kapoor family believe that since Neetu Kapoor is a controlling mother, she somehow dominated the decision about, who her son dated or is dating. As soon as Katrina and Ranbir breakup news broke, Neetu Kapoor was quoted saying, “Everyone has their own life. I cannot say anything.”
Katrina Kaif, who reportedly dated Ranbir for six years also commented on not being close enough to Ranbir Kapoor’s parents and was quoted saying, “I am not as close to Ranbir’s family as I would like. But I would like to hang out with them more. The family would be a defining factor when I make the decision to marry. I am a very responsive person. Katrina: Ranbir Cheated
As per HerZindagi.com, Talking about her love life, Katrina Kaif once also opened about her fear of not being loved “completely” by her ex-boyfriend, Ranbir. “Being with an actor has its own set of issues, but the basic differences arise because men are men. Cheaters will cheat anywhere. The back of my head wants to believe that I am (lucky in love). But the front of my head says ‘be careful’,” said the 37-year-old star.
“I don’t think I can make such claims, because were it selfless love, then I would not feel the need to assert myself as much in the relationship. I would be more tolerant. I don’t want to be tolerant. I don’t want to accept it. I want to fight. I want to get what I think I deserve. My greatest fear is that if and when I get married and I am standing at the altar or the mandap, he may not love me completely. That he may not know his mind well enough to be,” she added.
Post his breakups with either of the leading ladies, Ranbir didn’t clarify much. When he was asked to clear the air about his mother Neetu Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s drama, he reportedly said, “I’m here to act. I’m not here to clarify things” during an interview. This came after everyone started talking about why Neetu Kapoor cropped Kat from the sweet family photo, also featuring Ranbir. “So many conjectures are being drawn (about this issue), and there are such exaggerated reports. I mean, I don’t even want to contradict or start clarifying anything. I’m here to act. I’m not here to clarify things. If I give clarifications, I’d be reacting to things. I don’t want to do that. I’m happy with my life, my work and that’s all that matters,” he added.
Now, Ranbir is married to Alia Bhatt and they even have a baby daughter, Raha. The couple tied the knot just last year in an intimate ceremony attended by close family and friends.
