The Lucknow girl who was caught on camera beating up a taxi driver in a viral video has recently spoken up about what happened on that night.
In an interview, she said that the cab driver had seen her from a distance but he kept driving and even jumped the red signal and was about to hit her. “He was operating phone while driving. He sped the car, broke the traffic signal and I thought he was about to hit me as well”, she said.
Lucknow girl who’s name is Priyadarshini Yadav, also claimed that he allegedly returned later with a mob of around 100 goons who hit her very badly. She also said that there is no CCTV footage to prove that.
She mentioned that an FIR has been filed against her on charges of robbery and theft but she didn’t indulge into these. She also said that she is suffering from heart and kidney ailments.

The cab driver, however, refuted her claim that he jumped the red signal. In an interview, he said that he follows traffic rules and halted his car when the signal was red. The lady crossed the road but returned to thrash her. He said that the lady has damaged both his phone and his car. In fact, he had to incur a loss of Rs. 60,000. On being asked about what he wants now, he said that he wants his lost self-respect back.
What Happened Exactly?
A viral video of a woman slapping a cab driver in the middle of a road at Lucknow city’s Kesari Kheda traffic crossing went viral on social media. Netizens started #ArrestLucknowgirl urging authorities to arrest the girl. The Lucknow girl was seen thrashing the cab driver, and also the man who intervened in the heated incident. The local Police filed an FIR against the girl.
These kinds of incidents should always be properly investigated. This is not an issue of discrimination neither a case of gender inequality but it’s about basic human rights. As per the video, although the driver continuously requested to summon the police and asked for proper reasons, the lady refused to listen and continued to harass and assault him. Another man who came to the rescue of the driver also became the victim of her unrelenting assault. In fact even after a traffic police personnel came up to her she did not stop and continued to beat the driver.
These kinds of incidents weaken the concept of women empowerment. Can a man hit a woman without getting thrashed by the public? The poor driver did not even have the guts to do or say anything in his defense. The matter should be taken seriously, it was wrong to let her go and her proper details should’ve been recorded. Based on the evidence, a proper investigation should be carried after hearing both the sides; justice should prevail.
If the woman is found guilty she should be held responsible and be punished because incidents like these sends out a wrong message to the world which further fuels hatred against women.
